What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the structure and function of your body.
The structure of your body (your musculoskeletal system) is made up of the spine, skull and pelvis. Your internal organs also function within that structure and are affected by it. Your nervous system is made up of your brain and kilometres of nerves that travel throughout the body. The nervous system facilitates coordinated function within your body.
The spine, skull and pelvis are vital for movement and the protection of the nervous system.
If your spine isn’t able to move in all the many directions it may impact on the health of the joints, the nervous system and/or your ability to function to your full potential resulting in an increased risk of injury or illness and an overall reduction in your potential to be well.
The main principle underpinning Chiropractic is that your body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism. Your body depends on your nervous system being able to send messages between the brain and the body. When these messages are interrupted the result is a reduced capacity for your body to function and an increased risk of injury and illness.
Chiropractic is vital to restore proper nervous system flow and to build and maintain optimal health. This is done through spinal joint manipulation and other physical techniques as well as lifestyle advice and rehabilitation.
